Online Music Production course for Years 5&6

During the second week of the Easter break, Monday 12 April to Friday 16 April, Sutton Music Service will be delivering an Online Music Production course as part of the Easter Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF). 

 

This course is available without charge to any pupil eligible for Free School Meals. 

 

If your child is interested in taking part, please register by noon on Thursday 1 April.

 

Course Details

  • Summary: Music Production course. This course will be delivered via Soundtrap, cloud-based music production software, via Microsoft Teams. All students who enrol will be given a Soundtrap login, meaning that they can continue to compose between sessions.
  • Age range: This is suitable for children in school years 5 - 11 ( 10 -16-year-olds). 
  • When: Available online Monday 12 April - Friday 16 April, 10 -12 pm.

Year 1&2 trying out our new Soundshapes!

Wiggle Jiggle

Year 2 have been learning a song called Wiggle Jiggle. They learnt to sing the chorus and then added body percussion and actions.

Young Voices Charity Single!

Check out this song from Young Voices! Lovely Day has been recorded by Billy Ocean, YolanDa Brown and Ruti. The single was released this week for Children’s Mental Health Week to support Place2Be.

Year 4 Brass Performance

Year 4 children are learning to play the trumpet or trombone this year as a whole class. The lessons are taught by a specialist brass tutor from Sutton Music Service, Mr Meyers. The children have been learning to read different rhythms and play notes using different combinations of valves (on the trumpet) or different slide positions (on the trombone). This piece is called C Jam Blues.

Year 3 Ukulele Performance

The children have also learnt to play the G chord and how to switch between C and G quickly to play pieces. This piece, Row Row Row your boat, uses both chords.

Year 3 Ukulele Performance

Year 3 children are learning to play the ukulele this year as a whole class. The lessons are taught by Mrs Anderson and a specialist ukulele tutor from Sutton Music Service, Mr Jackson. This audio clip, A Sailor went to Sea, demonstrates their knowledge of dynamics (volume) and how to play the C chord.

Instrumental Performances

This term eight children have received individual lessons on a musical instrument in school. Here is a video showing what they have achieved this term.
