This Week’s Learning – wb 18.09.2022
This week we have been learning in
English - We have been gathering vocabulary from the story ‘Funny bones’ writing and editing our stories. We will look and listen to a story in Reading comprehension.
Maths – We have been using < < and = to compare two sets of objects.
Geography – We have been locating our school in our local area.
Art – We have been using collage material to make an abstract portrait.
DT – We have been selecting ingredients to make a smoothie
Next Week’s Learning – wb 25.09.2023
English - We will be following instructions, identifying features of a set of instructions using bossy verbs, sequencing instructions and talking about how we made our smoothies.
Maths – We will be finding one more and one less than a number within 10.
Geography – We will be observing he school environment and making a simple map.
Art – We will be using water colours to create a background.
DT – We will be evaluating our smoothies.
Science - We will investigate the human body.

Each week we will choose 2 children who have really impressed us. These children will be our stars of the week and will get a special certificate to go home!

Messages for Parents
You should have received a letter about our KS1 performance on Tuesday 17th October at 2.30pm and 18th October 9am. Please remember to return the slip indicating which day you would like to attend. If you have lost this letter, please ask one of the Year 1 teachers or you can find the letter via the link below.
A reminder that PE days and Mondays (indoor) and Wednesday (outdoor
Please note your child should come to school in their kit on these days. Please ensure long hair is tied back and earrings are removed. Your child may where a plain white t-shirt, black shorts or black leggings/jogging bottoms. They should wear their school jumper/cardigan – no other sports top. They can wear trainers or plimsoles.

Don’t forget about logging into Numberbots
Please ensure that your child is reading everyday (this can be a home book, magazine, comic or from the online Oxford Owl website) and recording their reading in their reading books. The more exposure to the written word the better their writing becomes. They can read any book; it doesn’t always have to be a school given book. We want your child/children to develop a love of books and enjoy reading for pleasure. Try to make time to share a book together as part of your evening routine. Snuggle up in bed or on the sofa, if you have a great place to read then why not read with your child in their favourite place!

Please take the time to have a look at our new online safety parent cards. These cards are written for parents and clearly & simply explain how to set up parental controls, block users, age restrictions and more. We hope that they will be very supportive for your all.

This week we have been learning in
English - we have been listening and responding to a story, sequencing a story writing a caption for a picture, using repetitive phrase, and creating prints using body parts.
Maths we have been learning to match numerals to quantities and order within 20, order and match within 20 using cluster cards, and order and match within 20 where objects are not organised, comparing sets of objects, and comparing two sets of objects using a number track.
Science – saying what my body parts do.
Art – Using colours to portray emotions in a portrait.
DT – Designing a smoothie

Welcome to Year 1, we are really looking forward to getting to know your children this week. We have some settling in activities to start the week and will swiftly move onto our Year 1 learning.
Welcome back to Year 1, we cannot wait to get started. During the week we will complete PSHE and back to school activities to help settle your child into Year 1
This Week’s Learning – wb 05.09.2023
This week we have been looking at our new topic ‘Amazing Me
English - We have written about our summer holidays, written about ourselves, labelled body parts and investigated about the human body. Learnt how to use capital letters to start our sentences.
Maths - we have been counting to ten and matching objects to 10 and ordering and matching within 20.
Science – Labelling body parts
Geography – Understanding where we live in the local area.
Art – drawing a self-portrait.
DT – Comparing what different food taste like

Please ensure you have completed at least 3 boxes in your reading diary every week, that you have read with an adult at home everyday and that it is signed by an adult at home at the end of the week, to ensure you are entered into the weekly reading car race.

As we begin the new school year the PTA are beginning to plan the events for this year following on from some great successes last year - including End of Term Discos, a Summer Picnic and a mufti day.
We’d like to give you the chance to come along and find out more about the PTA, who we are and how you could get involved (if you wanted to!). By coming along we promise you are not committing yourself to anything although we - and the school community - are grateful for any support you can offer!
As such we’d like to invite you along to a meeting on Monday 11 September at 8.45am (directly after drop off) at the school. Entry to the meeting will be via the office where you will be asked to sign in.
