Nappies: If your child wears a nappy or pull up can you please send them in with wipes, nappy sacks and extra nappies/pull ups. We do not provide these in school.

 

Spare Clothes: Every child needs to have spare clothes and underwear in school, which they can keep on their peg. 

 

PE Day: Every Friday

Children do not need to wear a PE kit if they do not want to as they wear tracksuit/shorts on a daily basis, but if you would like to send them in wearing a PE kit then you can.

 

Home Learning: On the home learning page are some fine motor skill ideas to support your child. 

 

Star of the Week:  Each Friday two children will be chosen for Star of the Week. 

They will have been chosen for following our school rules (be respectful, be responsible, be honest, be polite, be kind) and our class rules (good listening, good tidying, good walking, being kind, sharing).

They will receive a certificate and get to choose one of our school rule toys to take home for the weekend (elephant, monkey, leopard, tiger, parrot).

Please upload what you got up to over the weekend and some photos to Tapestry so we can share it in class the following Monday.

Online Safety

This week we are going to learn about ladybirds. We will read some ladybird stories and create some ladybird art for the classroom. We will also continue to talk about healthy lifestyles; exercise and brushing our teeth.

This week we are reading the book 'Superworm'. We will be learning about worms and creating our own worm art work. In maths we will be learning about capactity using the water tray.

This week we are reading the story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. We will be taste testing some of the healthy food from the story and talking about healthy and unhealthy foods. We will also be creating a class caterpillar and some colourful butterflies. In maths we will be practising our subitising to 5 and making sets to 5. 

 

 

 

Sports Day-Thursday 29th June. All children need a hat and water bottles. A social story has gone out on Tapestry for the children about sports day.

This week we are reading the story 'The Very Busy Spider' by Eric Carle. We will be recalling the story and writing what the characters say and we will be creating our own spider webs using our threading skills. In maths we will be practising matching numerals and quantities to 5. We also have our minibeast visit and we will be creating minibeast houses in our outside learning environment.

This term our topic is, 'Can I be a Writer?'. For this topic we will be learning about minibeasts. We will be reading books such as 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar', 'Norman the Slug with the Silly Shell' and 'The Very Busy Spider'. We will also be making minibeasts hotels and have a minibeast workshop. 

 

 

 

This week we will be reading, 'Norman the Slug with the Silly Shell'. We will be creating our own snails from CDs and practising our spiral shapes in sand. In our maths learning we will be practising counting to 10, recognising numerals to 5 and practising subitising to 5.

This week we will be learning the story of 'The Three Little Pigs'. We will be creating their houses, practising our fine motor skills by following a directed drawing of a pig, collaging the pigs and we will huff and puff like the wolf using straws and paint.  In maths we will continue to practise counting to 10.

This week we are learning the story of 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'. We will be listening to songs, ordering the story, mark making in a sensory oats tray and creating our own three bears and Goldilocks. In our maths learning we will be recapping 2D shape and learning about rectangles. We will also be exploring 3D shapes by contructing with them.

This week we are reading 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. We will be ordering the story, writing about the story and creating some Jack and the Beanstalk art work. In maths we will be learning the vocabulary more and fewer and using this vocabulary to recognise which beanstalks have more leaves and which have fewer leaves.

This term our topic is ''Can I Tell You a Story?''. To explore this topic we will be reading and learning about the stories, 'Jasper's Beanstalk', 'Jack and the Beanstalk', 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears', 'The Enormous Turnip' and ' The Gingerbread Man'.  

 

In our maths learning we will continue to recap our numbers to 5 and repeating patterns. We will also be learning the mathematical language more and fewer, numbers to 10, 3D shapes and recapping and learning some more 2D shapes. 

 

 

 

 

A new home learning menu will go home this week. 

 

Our new Knowledge Organiser for this term is on the homepage of the blog. A paper copy will be sent home too. 

 

Please bring back any clothes your child has borrowed and ensure they have spare clothes in school.

This week we are learning about spring. We will be going on a spring hunt, creating blossom tree paintings and writing our very own spring books. 

 

A few weeks ago we planted sunflower seeds. This week we will be taking inspiration from Vincent van Gogh and painting sunflower paintings. 

 

In maths we will continue to practise counting items with one to one correspondence by going on an Easter egg hunt! We will also recap positional language.

This week we will be reading 'Titch'. We will be learning mathematical language of tall and short and using this language to describe ourselves and classroom objects. We will also be learning what plants need to grow and making sure our sunflowers have it.

This week we will be talking about growing up and how we have changed from a baby until now. We will be looking at our baby photos and discussing what we can do now and what we could do when we were a baby. We will be reading 'Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes' to help us. 

 

In Maths we will be sorting numicon, numberblocks, dice and pictures into the numerals 1,2 and 3. We will also be leanring about triangles.

We will be reflecting on how we have grown and changed from when we were babies and reading books such as 'Ten Fingers, Ten Toes'. 

 

We will also be experimenting with colour mixing and weight by reading the book Elmer.

This week we are reading the book 'Aliens Love Underpants'. We will be designing our own underpants, creating our own spaceships from junk modelling and designing ourselves as aliens!

This week we are settling back into Nursery after a lovely few weeks off to spend time with our friends and family.

 

We are very excited to be welcoming some new children into Ladybird Class too! We will be recapping our class rules, reading 'Little Tiger Goes to School' again and introducing Tiger, Monkey, Parrot, Flamingo, Elephant and Leopard to the new members of Ladybird class. 

 

This week we will be reading 'The Gruffalo'. We will each be making one of the characters using an art resources as well as using the Gruffalo small world and playing with the Gruffalo crumble. We will also be able to learn in our new Arctic Explorer role play!

In the run up to Christmas, this week we will be writing letters to Father Christmas and posting them in our class post box! As part of writing our letters we will also be watching a video about how our post gets delivered. 

 

We will also be continuing our fine motor skills by engaging in lots of fine motor activities this week. 

 

It's also nearly time for our Nativity play, so we will be continuing to practice our songs in the hall with Reception. We are looking forward to our adults coming to see us!

This week as part of our celebration topic we will be learning about birthdays. We will be discussing how we celebrate our birthdays, be playing some birthday games like musical statues, wrapping 'gifts' and engaging in lots of creative activities centered about birthdays. 

 

We will also be continuing to practice recognising and writing the first letter of our names. 

 

In the run up to Christmas we will also be beginning to learn our Christmas songs for our production with Reception. 

 

 

Please see the home learning page for information on our home learning task this week. 

 

Our Christmas production will be the morning of Thursday 8th December and Friday 9th December. In Nursery we will be the stable animals, so the children just need to wear black as their costume.

You can either send your child into school in their costume and they can stay in it all day (but they may get messy as we will be doing our normal learning activities the rest of the day) or you can put some additional clothes in their bag, and they can change into them after the production.

Next term we will be learning about the topic 'What Can I Celebrate?'. For this topic, we will be learning about different celebrations such as bonfire night, Diwali, weddings, birthdays and Christmas. 

 

 

Home Learning Over Half Term and Next Term

To enhance our learning of this topic can you please either bring in (and I will photocopy) or send on Tapestry, photos of your family having a celebration. We will then use these photos in our learning and have them on display and in the role play. 

 

If you celebrate Diwali and have any objects or clothing that you use for your celebrations it would be amazing to see photos of them or borrow the items for a day or two for our learning. If anyone would also like to come in and talk about Diwali that would be great, just let me know. 

 

As part of our celebration topic, we will be wrapping 'presents', so if anyone can donate different sized boxes and wrapping paper (even scraps) that would be great. 

 

We will also be learning to write the first sound in our name!

This week we will continue to learn about Autumn. We will be learning the Autumn colours brown, orange and gold and sorting Autumn items of those colours. We will also be matching everyday items to Autumn items by looking at similarities in their shape.

Home Learning Friday 14th October

This week we will be learning about the colour green. Please look around your home or where you live to find items that are green. Please upload to Tapestry so we can share them as a class. Thank you to all of those children who have been completing their home learning tasks, they are wonderful to see, and it is lovely to hear the children talk about them!

 

 

You can continue to take photos of your door number too so we can add these to our maths display. Please upload to Tapestry. 

 

We have also been talking about different types of technology that we have at home e.g., microwave, Xbox, shower, electronic toys etc. For your home learning can you take a photo of a piece of technology that you have at home. Mrs Briggs in Year 4 will be looking at this home learning too, she is very excited to see what you find!

 

 

WB 10.10.22

 

 

This week we will be looking back at photos and items of items we found on our Autumn walk. We will be using the conkers to create some artwork and playing a listening game of what the conkers, leaves and pinecones sound like when rubbed against a hard surface. 

 

We will continue to listen to Autumn songs and stories, and we will continue to learn about number 1, whilst exploring other numbers in our environment. 

 

We will be learning about the colour yellow and doing lots of messy play and explorative activities with items that are yellow.

Home Learning Friday 7th

As part of our Autumn learning, next week we will be learning about the colour yellow. Please upload to Tapestry anything yellow that you find either at home or when out and about so we can share it as a class. For example, you might find a yellow leaf or a yellow toy. 

 

As part of our Maths learning could you also please upload to Tapestry or email to the Ladybird email address (at the beginning of the blog) a photo of your door number. Your child can be in the photo if they want to. We will then use these photos for our Maths display.

This week we are learning about Autumn. We will be listening to Autumn songs, reading books about Autumn and investigating lots of Autumnal sensory play. We will also be learning about the number 1.

Next week we will be learning about Autumn. 

 

If you go on any Autumn walks please bring into school any Autumnal things that you find that we can use in school e.g. conkers and leaves. You can bring items in for the rest of the half term too.  

 

As part of our Autumn learning, next week we will be learning about the colour red. Please upload to Tapestry anything red that you find either at home or when out and about so we can share it as a class. For example you might find an apple, a red toy, red clothing, red bus etc.

This week we will be reading the book 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea'. In our learning environment we will have; tiger food and tiger masks in our role play, we will be creating tiger stripes using pens in our writing area, we will have teapots and tea cups outside, we will be colouring sorting in our maths area and creating tiger stripes in cornflour in our creative area. 

 

We will also be tasting some flavoured teas, just like the Tiger!

This week we will continue to read the story 'Little Tiger Goes to School'. We will be learning who the characters are, their names and what they do and how this links to our class rules. 

 

We are working hard on following our class rules and each time we do we get a marble in the jar. Once we have collected our target of ten marbles then we get a class reward, which this time is a cinema and a biscuit!

 

 

On Friday 23rd September the first few observations will be uploaded to Tapestry. Can you please login and 'like' the observations; firstly as we hope you do like them but also so we can check that everyone has logged in and it is working correctly.

From Wednesday everyone is in Nursery for the whole morning.

In our leanring environment we will have; tiger food and tiger masks in our role play, we will be creating tiger stripes using pens in our writing area, we will have teapots and tea cups outside, we will be colouring sorting in our maths area and creating tiger stripes in cornflour in our creative area. 

 

We will also be tasting some flavoured teas, just like the Tiger!

 

 

 

Please look at the note at the beginning of the class posts as a reminder about nappies and spare clothes.
